NEW HAVEN — Helen Cyr Dupoise passed away peacefully at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 8, 2020 at Avante in Boca Raton, Fla. She was a resident at Naples Green Village, a memory care home, for 20 months.

 Helen is the daughter of Phillip and Annette Sharrow Cyr. She was born June 2, 1926, on the family farm on Pearson Rd. in New Haven, Vt., and spent her childhood there. She was educated at Beeman Academy. In February of 1942 she married Francis P. Dupoise at St. Peter’s Parish in Vergennes, Vt., her partner of 78 and a half years. They made their home on Dog Team Road and raised three children: Paul, Linda and Stephen. Helen loved her garden, canning the fruits of her labor, baking and frying doughnuts for her family. She was a true homemaker.

 She was an accomplished seamstress, making clothes for herself, her daughter Linda, and later her grandchildren. Helen and Francis spent many years square dancing with the Rutland Squares. Helen sewed many square dance dresses for herself as well as her friends. She loved making patchwork quilts and each family member is proud to display them.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury and St. Leo’s Parish in Bonita Springs, Fla. She and Francis wintered for 30 years in Bonita Springs.

Helen is survived by her loving, dedicated husband Francis; son Paul (Shirley Anne Mabry); daughter Linda (Richard Verba); son Stephen (Marcia Collette); six grandchildren, Mark, Susan, David, Stephen, Amy and Stacey; and 12 much-loved great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury, a burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury. To send online condolences to the family please visit www.brownmcclayfuneralhomes.com
