Joan Parks Panton of Vergennes, VT passed away at Helen Porter Nursing Home with her son and daughter by her side on January 14, 2021. Joan was born January 5, 1943, the daughter of Chester and Freda Preston Parks of Monkton, VT. She attended Vergennes Union High School, graduating with the Class of 1960. Joan worked at the Chittenden Bank in Vergennes for 20 years. She also worked at Wells Physical Therapy and for Dr. Bradley Kline. Most recently she worked at Kennedy Brothers until it closed in 2011 and since that time she worked at Kinney Drugs in Vergennes. Joan is a member of the Vergennes Congregational Church. She is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law Anne & Bill Vincent of Ferrisburgh, son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Amy Barr of Vergennes, her grandchildren Chelsea (Vincent) Rheaume (Eric), Jon-Taylor Vincent (Morgan), William Barr, Suzanne Levack Carrier (Alex), and Peter Levack (Taylor), her great-grandchildren who were the light of her life Addie Rheaume, Andy Vincent & Zoey Rheaume and several nieces and nephews. Joan is also survived by her extended Panton family including her stepchildren Julie Cushman (Lynn), Susie Purcell (Brian), Richard Panton, many grandchildren & great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband Turtle Panton and the father of her children Loren Barr, her sister Barbara Bull and her brother Bill Parks. Joan enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family & friends, shopping and socializing with all her patrons at Kinneys! She could strike up a conversation with anyone! Her family would like to thank the entire staff at Helen Porter Nursing Home for taking great care of Joan during the short time she lived there. We are grateful for the care, compassion and love they had for her. Due to COVID-19, there will be no services at this time. The family is planning a graveside service and/or Celebration of Life at a later time as COVID restrictions allow.
