Rene D. Nill, 63, passed away peacefully after battling long term illness Saturday, December 9, 2023 at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born on November 14, 1960 in Westerly, Rhode Island the daughter of Raymond and Harriet (Palmer) Root.
Rene worked as a special education paraprofessional at Vergennes Union Elementary School for over 20 years. She was a parishioner at St. Peter’s Church. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, camping and especially spending time with family at Lake Willoughby. We will all remember her Yorkie companions through the years that she loved so dearly.
Rene is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Edward F. Nill, 61, her two sons Edward R. Nill, 35, and Raymond E. Nill, 30, her favorite daughter in law Danielle K. Nill, 29, her sister Debee R. Cote, 61, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 17th from 3 to 5 p.m. at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Rene was one of my best friends. She had such a great love for her family . We would talk on the phone for hours and laugh about silly things. She could make most people smile. Rene was kind, generous and so artistic. She could draw anything and it looked beautiful. I will miss her laugh and her smile. I am thinking of you Ed, Eddie,Raymond and Danielle. Rene was one of my best friends. She was kind, caring, and generous. Her smile and laughter were contagious. We talked on the phone for hours and would laugh and joke it was so nice having her to give advice and help as needed. Rene was one of the best artist I knew. The students loved watching her complete a project.
