He was born on June 14, 1925 in Fryeburg, ME the son of Merton and Mae Charles Bell.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. After his return home, he owned a log truck and hauled wood from Maine to Vermont for a few years. He married Margaret Linscott in Bridgton, ME on March 23, 1951. Shortly after, he began working for H.P. Hood, where he worked in the milk plant and as a field man until his retirement.

He was a member of Dorchester Lodge #1 F&AM since 1962 and the Cairo Temple Patrol & Drum Corps for 40+ years.

He enjoyed working in the pulling rings at Addison County Fair & Field Days for 40 years, Champlain Valley Fair for 30+ years, and Fryeburg Fair for around 40 years. He worked Fryeburg Fair with much of his family and it was his favorite time of the year.

In his retirement, he enjoyed hunting, woodworking, puttering around the house (as he would say), and attending other pulling events throughout Vermont. You could also find him at his son’s and granddaughters’ many sporting events.

His family would like to thank the staff at The Arbors at Shelburne for the loving care they gave to their husband, father, and grandfather.
