                Arthur G. Sherman, 91, of New Haven, passed away on October 28, 2018 in Bristol, VT.

                He was born on March 9, 1927, in Vergennes to Edward and Martha (Kandzior) Sherman. In 1928 the family moved to their farm in New Haven. He attended school at Beeman Academy while helping to run the farm. In 1953 he married Anne Burpee, and in 1954 he began his service in the Army. Upon discharge he and Anne began their own family farm on East Street, which he continued until selling the animals in 1992. Over the years he drove school bus, and was a member of the Vermont Farm Bureau, the New Haven Fire Department, the American Legion of Bristol, and the New Haven planning commission. He also served as a Beeman Academy Trustee and was on the Mt. Abraham Union High School board. After retiring he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.

                He was predeceased by his wife Anne in 1991, his sister Gertrude Parkhill, his brother Arnold, and a companion, Vivian Hutchins, who shared his many travels with.

                He is survived by his sons Jim (Jan) of Leicester, Jerry (Linda) of Concord; Linda Sargent; his brother Richard of Bristol, his sister Nancy Daer of Wethersfield, CT, his grandchildren Andrea Sherman, Evan (Karen) Sherman, Carrie (Joe) Sylvia, and Aimee Sherman (fiancé)  Billy Kramer). Art has 3 great grandchildren, Peter and Henry Sherman and Lorelei Sylvia.

                The family would like to thank his caregiver, Heather Shepard, and her family, where he has resided the last 4 years.

                Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol from 10 to 11a.m. with a funeral following at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven with a reception following at Bristol American Legion.
