Barbara Ann (Francis) Lessard, 79 formerly of Vergennes and Shelburne, Vt., passed away at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home in Burlington, VT surrounded by family.
She was born on June 7, 1937 in Shelburne, Vt., the third and youngest daughter of the late Solomon James & Laura Pauline (Lassor)Francis.
She graduated from Shelburne High School; Class of 1956 and worked at Shelburne Museum & Shelburne Corporation for years and later as assistant manager for Valley View Apartments in Vergennes when she resided there.
She married her former husband Edward Roland Lessard onJune 18, 1960 in Burlington, Vt.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes, Vt., the Sunshine Society, and the Nulhegan Band of the Abenakis.
She enjoyed butterflies, snowmen, and loved nature and wildlife.
In addition to her parents, She was predeceased by her brother Daniel V. Francis in 1979, her maternal grandparents; Vetal & Celina (Phillips) Lassor, her paternal grandparents: James Solomon & Celina “Mary” (Blair) Francis, a great granddaughter Maegan, many aunts, uncles, half siblings, cousins, along with her beloved friends, Marjorie Mansfield, Louise McKenney & Virginia Hurd and her beloved cat TeTe.
She is survived by two children Laurie St. Cyr and her husband Daniel of Port Henry, NY., and James “Jimmy” Lessard and his wife Cathy of Milton, Vt., one sister Shirley Lessard and her husband Norman of Roxbury, Vt., eight grandchildren; Catherine Peltier, Daniel & Michael McEnerney, Nathaniel St. Cyr, Austin & Connor Lessard, Colleen Michael, and Carrie Kauffman, ten great grandchildren; Christian, Kevin, Nolan, Victor, Aengus, Layne, Asher, Anna, Mason, and Bailey.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, July 1st at Brown-McClay Funeral Home, 48 South Maple Street, Vergennes, VT with a burial following at Shelburne Village Cemetery in Shelburne, Vt., beside her mother Pauline and brother Daniel.
