Jeffrey Yandow

Jeffrey Yandow

Jeffrey Yandow, 65, of North Ferrisburgh, VT passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2018. Born on May 27, 1952 to the late Clovis and Esther Miller (Yandow Bristol).

He was a 1970 graduate of Vergennes Union High School. Self employed most of his life, Jeff was a lifelong stock car racing enthusiast who experienced and enjoyed life at the track be it spectator, a member of Jamie Aube’s pit crew or T-shirt vendor. Always the competitive athlete, ball games gave way to bowling, golfing, horseshoes, dart and card games with a large and diverse group of friends. Many life-long friends played ball with him or served with him in what was then the N. Ferrisburgh Fire Department of which his grandfather was a charter member and one-time chief. Having served as a Captain in the department, Jeff insisted on buying his first house in the Hollow to be close by when the siren sounded or roll down the hill to go to work at the family business, Yandow Blue Seal Feeds. As much as he loved N Ferrisburgh, he hated Vermont’s cold winters and looked forward to lounging poolside in Cape Coral Florida with family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Greg Yandow and Amy Yandow (Nate) Kittredge, 4 grandchildren he adored, Jordan Yandow, Ayla, Kendall and Nolan Kittredge. He leaves his sisters and poolside companions, Deborah Vezina (Las Cruces, NM) and Cynthia Strojny (Savannah, GA) who have blessed him with 2 generations of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20th at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes from 1 to 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 25, N Ferrisburgh, VT or the VUHS Boosters Club.
