Joni E. Martell, 59, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 surrounded by family.
She was born October 31, 1956 in Middlebury, daughter of Howard and Nada Smith. Halloween was always a huge holiday in her household.
Joni was a very compassionate person; always the first to help when needed. She was a beautiful soul; inside and out. Joni was employed at UTC, where she had devoted 38 years to her career there. For many, many years she coached soccer and basketball at Addison Elementary, which she truly loved. Being an amazing grandmother was her life.
Joni is survived by her mother Nada Smith; brother Howard Allen; husband Tom Martell; daughters Amanda and Antonia; son Andrew; grandchildren Zander, Alexis and Dylan, as well as aunts/uncles, nieces/ nephews and many cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 12th at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service following at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
