Madeline Davis (Desorda)

Madeline Davis (Desorda)

Madeline Davis (Desorda), 91, of Bristol, Vermont, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2016.  Born in Bristol, VT on September 25, 1924, she lived in the same home on West Street until moving to Massachusetts in 2014 to be closer to her son and his family.

Madeline is survived by her son Michael and his wife Aline, of Florence MA, and her grandchildren – Benjamin, Hannah and Pearl Davis.  She was predeceased by her husband John, in 1997, and all her brothers and sisters – Earl, Lawrence, Francis, Marie, and Patricia.  In addition, she leaves numerous nieces and nephews in Vermont.

Madeline graduated from Bristol High School in 1941. She married the love of her life John Davis in 1952.  Throughout life, Madeline and John could be found enjoying family life on their front porch, or tending flower beds and boxes around the house.  Madeline was an avid reader and completed the Burlington Free Press crossword puzzle every day. She made many life-long friends in Bristol through employment at Way’s Oddity Shop on Main Street in the early 1960s, in the front office at the Drake & Smith Company, and through the elected position of Bristol Town Clerk.  Madeline loved her church, the Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol, never missing a Sunday mass or holy day.

We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Linda Manor Extended Care in Leeds, MA for their loving care of our mother.

Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Madeline’s memory to the Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, Bristol, VT, 05443.
