Peter A Rheaume (“Two Shoes”), 66, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his home in Salisbury.

He was born on October 14, 1949 in Burlington to Leonard and Harriet (Blaise) Rheaume. Pete grew up in Vergennes surrounded by his very large family.  He had fond memories of his mother’s restaurant and helping his big brothers with odd jobs. Pete joined the U.S. Navy in 1968.

Peter married the love of his life Diane (Rivers) on October 3, 1975. Together they had two daughters, Danielle and Casey.

Pete drove a tractor trailer truck for 47 years, 25 of those years were for William Holdman Inc. hauling milk.

Pete was a proud “Papa” to 5 beautiful granddaughters; Jayden, Reese, Wyleigh, Willow, and Kayleigh.  Peter enjoyed building dune buggies, cooking, driving truck, spending time with his dog and best friend Reba. He was a very opinionated, but generous man. He would give anyone the shirt off his back.  He loved making the people around him laugh with his never-ending jokes.

He was most recently employed by his good friend Walter Robinson at Robinson Transport.

 Peter is survived by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, John Fitzgerald, two sisters; Mary Thorpe and husband Bob, Debra Scott and husband Watson; three brothers, Leonard, Lewis and wife Connie and Robert (Beno), and several nieces and nephews.

 He is predeceased by his parents and brothers and sisters; William, Norman, Michael, Madeline, Francis, Gertrude, Roland, and Reginald.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February17th at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes. A reception will immediately follow at the American Legion in Middlebury.
