                Raymond “Bud” Bodette Jr., 83, passed away after a short illness on Thursday, September 8, 2016 surrounded by family.

                He was born on August 30, 1933 in West Addison. He was the son of Raymond H. Bodette Sr. and Rose (Field) Bodette.

                He graduated from Vergennes High School, and married Alice Tucker.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. He returned to West Addison where he worked with his father on the family farm, and continued to farm with his sons until he retired.  He always grew a large garden and shared with others.

            Bud loved Lake Champlain. He spent many hours ice fishing with friends and family and bullhead fishing with his sons. Many friends came for picnics at the lake. Almost every day he went to sit and contemplate the lake, and could often be found there with his binoculars.

             He was an avid hunter of Native American artifacts and found many while working in the fields. He loved the history of Lake Champlain and was a member of the Addison Historical Society.

             Bud is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Bodette; five sons Raymond and Susan Bodette, Joseph and Cindy Bodette, Tom Bodette, David and Charlene Bodette, and Greg and partner Kim Farrar; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Wright and Rosanna Dufresne; and several nieces and nephews.

                He was predeceased by a son Dan Bodette in 1981 and a sister Marie Lisa.

                A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 15th at St. Bernadette Church in Bridport. Interment will be in Lake View Cemetery in West Addison. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Addison Historical Society, attn. Geoffrey Nelson, 7214 VT Route 17W, Addison, Vt.  and the Addison Fire Department, attn. Chris Mullis, 65 Vermont Route 17 West,  Addison, Vt.
