Richard Eugene Evans (Dick)

Richard Eugene Evans (Dick)

Richard Eugene Evans (Dick) passed into glory on March 7, 2017, surrounded by family at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was there with hopes of participating in a clinical trial that would eradicate his lymphoma, but he ultimately chose heaven. Heaven's choir has gained a tenor.

Dick was born on November 4, 1946 in Marion, Indiana, to John and Anne (Lantz) Evans. Dick fell in love with Vermont when visiting on a camping trip in 1968, and some of his greatest pleasures were summer boat rides and downhill skiing in wintertime. He was a member of the Champlain Valley Christian Reformed Church and was known for his tireless servitude.  He graduated from Ball State Teachers College in 1968 and began farming shortly after he moved to Addison, where he raised veal calves from 1972 until 2007.

He was preceded in death by Donna (Roberts), the mother of his children, and Mary (Smith). He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Van Wyck-Van De Weert), his daughters Edye and husband Rick Kuyper, and Marti and fiance Bill Niedringhaus, and grandchildren Ellyn, Eddy and Willy. He is also survived by his brother John and wife Ellen Evans, sister Elizabeth and husband Bob Kuyper, and by Marilyn's children Jason Van De Weert, Kelli and Josh Dubois, Kevin Van De Weert,  Travis and  Kara Van De Weert, and Sherilyn Van  De Weert, and grandchildren, Ryley, Zeke, Quin, Gauge, Braxton, and  Axle.
