She passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. Was born October 3, 1958 in Baldwin, WI, the daughter of Peter Vander Weide and Claire Oppenhuizen. Valerae was a respected teacher who cared passionately for her students. She enjoyed knitting, painting, and was a talented pianist. As a devoted mother, supportive wife, proud grandmother, and friend to many, she will be intensely missed. Above all, she was a devote Christian that loved and served everyone she encountered. She truly was a light in this world. Valarae is survived by her husband, Patrick; her two sons, Nate and wife Veronica and Matthew and his wife Alyshia; her 2 grandchildren, Luciana Berrospi Indo and Rowan Murphy; her mother, Claire; her 5 siblings, Trudy Harwell, George Vander Weide, Vince Vander Weide, Ruth Calland, and Paul Vander Weide; and her 12 nieces and nephews. A celebration of Valarae’s life will be held March 8, 2018 @ 10 am at the Champlain Valley Christian Reformed Church, Vergennes, VT.
